**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**
MARCH 30, 2024

After much consideration over the past 15 months, our Board of Directors made the decision to shut down operations in 2024.

Our three horses - Mambo Appeal, Rose Classic and Summertime Groove, along with the organization's assets have been transferred to Run for the Ribbons Inc, a Florida nonprofit and 501(c)(3) organization (Wildalana was transferred to them in October 2023).

If you supported us over the years, please consider supporting Run for the Ribbons. This year marks their 10th anniversary as an equine welfare organization specializing in Thoroughbred aftercare. They were recently accredited by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance in November 2023. They also put on the Florida Thoroughbred Transformation Expo at the Florida Horse Park each year.

We started out as Thunder Bay Horse Rescue Inc in September 2003. We changed our name to Thoroughbred Retirement of Tampa Inc in May 2009. Since then, we helped 58 Thoroughbreds with 45 being re-homed.

We are forever grateful for your support and generosity over the years, along with the many volunteers who gave of their time and talent to help us fulfill our mission of Thoroughbred aftercare. It is appreciated more than you know, and we thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts.

RFTR sent us this photo a few days after they arrived at their facility. They are already turned out with the rest of the herd and doing very well.
